A Spark Can Change Everything

At every ISP retreat and reflection circle, something quiet but powerful happens: a spark of hope is lit. For recovery to last, we must tend to the often unseen spiritual work of healing—the deep sense of belonging, the power of shared woundedness, and the spark of believing that a new life is actually possible.

Through a featured dialogue between Christine Haley (Illinois’ Chief Homelessness Officer), Fr. Tim McCabe, SJ, (President and CEO of Detroit’s Pope Francis Center), and ISP alumni, we will look ‘beyond the bed’ to explore how responses to homelessness are evolving across the country. Together, we will explore why ‘housing first’ doesn’t mean ‘housing only’, and how spiritual companionship provides the essential human connection that makes recovery last.

Come for the conversation.

Stay for the connection.

Leave with your own fire a little brighter!

The Ignatian Spirituality Project (ISP) invites people recovering from homelessness and addiction to encounter God’s love, hope, and healing through spiritual companionship that transforms lives. Through overnight retreats and spiritual reflection circles, we provide “scaffolding for the soul,” the steady support that helps housing, treatment, and sobriety stick.
ISP is active in 20+ cities with 600+ team members and 170+ shelter and recovery partners.

“The goal is to keep a flicker alive… to keep that flame of healing flickering so nobody is hopeless.”

Glenn

ISP Ambassador, Boston

Featured Guests

Emcee
Fr. Tim McCabe, SJ
President and CEO, Pope Francis Center

Fr. Tim has spent over 40 years advocating for marginalized communities. This journey began with the Catholic Worker Movement and led him to the Jesuits. He recently led development of the $40 million Bridge Housing Campus, Michigan’s first residential facility providing comprehensive wrap-around services for chronic homelessness.

A former director for Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Fr. Tim brings deep expertise in Ignatian spirituality. He offers a “faith in action” perspective to the national conversation on recovery and housing.

Guest Speaker
Christine Haley
Chief Homelessness Officer for the State of Illinois

Christine will be offering a statewide vantage point on the intersection of housing policy and community practice.

Before leading Illinois’ effort to prevent and end homelessness, she spent more than two decades in housing and public health. She began her career in service through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.

Her insights will be rooted in Chicago’s experience but connected to the realities and opportunities for recovery nationwide.

2026 Company of Grace Award: Ignatius House

The Company of Grace is named after the first lay companions of St. Ignatius of Loyola, who dedicated themselves to serving the spiritual and material needs of the poor. In 2013, ISP created the Company of Grace event and an accompanying award, which has since honored over two dozen champions across our network. With the award, ISP recognizes those nominated by their peers for being committed champions of our ministry, building a modern Company of Grace.

This year, we are honored to present the Company of Grace Award to Ignatius House in Atlanta, Georgia. Ignatius House has been part of the ISP family since 2007, when it held its first ISP retreat. The partnership reflects a deep alignment between ISP’s ministry of spiritual companionship and Ignatius House’s values of hospitality and welcome.

“Ignatius House has created the kind of environment where ISP’s mission doesn’t just operate — it flourishes. The hospitality, the spiritual depth, and the commitment to welcoming all people have made Ignatius House a model for what this work can look like when a community fully embraces it.” — Christine Curran, Executive Director, ISP
