25th Anniversary celebration

25 Years of Transformation

It’s ISP’s 25th anniversary year, and you are invited to join us as we spend this anniversary year celebrating sacred stories!

From the seed of a single overnight retreat held in Chicago for a dozen men recovering from homelessness and addiction, ISP has grown and blossomed into a thriving movement.

Today, sustained by 600 dedicated volunteers in over 20 cities across the U.S., Canada, and Ireland, we continue to invite people recovering from homelessness and addiction to encounter God’s love, hope and healing through spiritual companionship that transforms lives.

ISP has launched a bold vision for growth that includes a significant investment in our program infrastructure, alumni leadership programs, and deepening roots in the communities we serve. These investments will help ISP to more than double our impact, reaching 250% more individuals over the next three years.

To achieve our mission, we need your help!

There are all kinds of ways to help us celebrate our 25th Anniversary, and hope you’ll join us in celebrating sacred stories. Read on for a variety of ways you can connect with us, spread the word, and make an impact for those recovering from homelessness and addiction!

Invest

In order to double our impact and serve twice as many individuals over the next 3 years, we’ve set an ambitious $2mm goal for our 25th anniversary.  You can help us get there!  Here are a few ways:

  • Become a Magis Partner: a new opportunity for supporters to make a three-year commitment of $2,500 or more to ensure that we can grow sustainably and deliberately as we embark on our next 25 years!*
  • Join our Companions Circle by signing up to be a monthly donor.
  • Make a special one-time gift in honor of our silver anniversary.

 Champion

  • Host a fundraiser or friend-raiser in honor of our 25th anniversary (invite family/friends/neighbors to share in conversation and fellowship–and hear about our impact and plans from  key ISP leaders).*
  • Share ISP’s 25th anniversary content with your friends, family, and other networks.
  • Follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube, and invite your contacts to learn more about us.

Our 25th Anniversary Co-Chairs provide strategic leadership and support to the organization throughout our anniversary year.
Below, these ISP champions share more about themselves and their journey with ISP.

Sharon Krone

I serve as the volunteer coordinator for ISP’s Chicago women’s leadership team in 2022 because I believe in the power and potential of ISP to transform lives. I support the women who participate in our quarterly retreats and weekly reflection circles by bearing witness to their encounter with the almighty and loving God. It is a privilege and a blessing to receive and hold their sacred stories. As ISP’s 25th anniversary co-chair, I am eager to invite new faith community partners, local volunteers and neighborhood shelters to come, see and join a movement of hope and joy!

A long term transplant from North Carolina, I have called Chicagoland home for 32 years. I am deeply rooted in Ignatian Spirituality and growing in my journey as a spiritual director. Currently, I serve as Chief Operating Officer of a private foundation.  I find joy in Lake Michigan sunrises, sandy dogs, and paddleboarding. My husband and I have 3 adult children.

Pete Tarsney

I’ve been a supporter of the ministry of ISP in some capacity for over seven years. Since volunteering at a homeless shelter in college, I’ve always felt called to find ways to support those facing this challenge in their lives. I am passionate about ISP’s ministry because I believe it addresses the heart of the problem — repairing the spiritual connection everyone needs with their creator and with their broader community. By helping to recreate this foundation, our brothers and sisters facing this challenge can then rebuild their lives in collaboration with all of us.

Born and raised in northern New Jersey, I’ve lived in Chicago and the surrounding area since graduating from law school almost 30 years ago. After practicing law for many years in private practice and for larger companies, I now provide legal and business advice to early-stage healthcare companies that seek to enhance the quality of our healthcare system. My wife and I have three boys who are now 16, 12 and 12.

During our 25th anniversary year, there will be all kinds of opportunities to join us in celebrating sacred stories of recovery, healing, community, and unconditional love.  We have plans for a video mini-documentaries, a limited podcast series, events, powerful impact stories, and customized prayer resources. Sign up for our newsletter below so you don’t miss a beat!

On retreat, I was reconnected to a power greater than myself. The prayer, exercises surroundings, silence, and camaraderie with my fellow retreatants helped me to recognize the love and support that is present to me everyday. All I have to do is access it.”
