CHICAGO, IL — April 14, 2025 — The Ignatian Spirituality Project (ISP), a national movement that invites people recovering from homelessness and addiction to experience hope and healing through spiritual companionship, is pleased to welcome José Sánchez as Director of Communications and Marketing. Sánchez brings both deep experience and passion to this new strategic role.
“This mission is deeply personal to me,” said Sánchez. “Growing up with a loved one struggling with addiction, I saw how isolating that experience can be. And I know what it’s like to carry parts of your story quietly—to wonder if there’s a place where you’ll be fully seen and loved. I recognize the sacredness of what ISP offers.”
Based in Montreal, Sánchez will lead ISP’s communications and marketing efforts in a full-time, contract capacity. He brings over 15 years of experience in nonprofit and tech-sector communications and marketing, along with a passion for aligning mission, systems, message, and impact. His formation in Ignatian spirituality—through years of work with the Jesuits, graduate studies at Regis College in Toronto, Canada, and participation in Contemplative Leaders in Action—deeply informs his approach to storytelling and strategic engagement. He will shape the organization’s voice, elevate its brand, and build authentic relationships across its growing network of supporters.

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with ISP, an organization creating spaces where every part of a person’s journey is met with compassion, not judgment; where people are reminded that they are seen, loved, and worthy of flourishing. It’s a privilege to help share those stories and extend that invitation to others.”
This partnership comes as ISP continues a year-long process of discernment and strategic planning. With a renewed focus on long-term sustainability and impact, the organization is investing in communications and marketing to support fundraising, volunteer engagement, and mission-aligned growth.
“We are thrilled to welcome José,” said Christine Curran, Executive Director of ISP. “His blend of strategic insight, creative energy, and values-driven leadership is exactly what we need as we continue to tell the story of God at work in the world, and to invite more people to walk with us on the journey.”
The Ignatian Spirituality Project offers spiritual retreat and reflection programs in 20 cities nationwide, grounded in Ignatian spirituality and the 12-step tradition. With over 700 volunteers and 175 local partners, ISP is a beacon of hope for individuals in recovery seeking purpose, connection, and community.
